Pay It Forward

You can pay it forward with The Patrician Society by:

  • organising, leading, assisting and participating in activities & events

  • providing direct benefits from your organisation to both Society Members and alumnus as part of our TPS members benefits

  • by providing career advice, guidance & exposure, academic & financial support, or be speakers for talks for our current Patricians in your areas of expertise...

You can contact us at: ThePatrician SocietySG@gmail.com

Talks

Talks arranged by the society to be done by Alumni; conducted for Society Members, Alumni, Staff and/or Students. Ganesh is liaising with the school to arrange for this.

Academic Support

Learning Support for Current Patricians where our alumni and society members can rally together with the De La Salle Brothers and the school to help in improving the academic performance of our brother Patricians. Dr Anthony Yee is our contact point for this.

Others

Sponsorships, Internships, Mentorships and other supporting activities for both our current brother Patricians in school as well as the activities and programmes of our De La Salle Brothers; including Hope House - which is an Institution of a Public Character (IPC).

We note that several cohorts of Patrician have on their own accord being paying it forward ... we thank the class of 1982 for their generousity to both the school and to Hope House run by Br Collin when they last gathered together in St Patrick's ...

The 4S1 Class of 1978 Bursary

The 4S1 Class of 1978 too has paid it forward ... they are in contact with each other via a whatsapp chatgroup - they have been thinking of how and when to give back to the Brothers and/or the School, and starting a bursary was an option.

When Hope House (an IPC), sought help recently in 2015 for a polytechnic student to finish his final year of studies, this class responded resoundingly to make this bursary a reality.

They broke the amount required into 20 lots to allow for more to participate in this pay it forward action, and within 48 hours, the amount required was met; even exceeded, as some of the classmates gave multiple lots!! This amount has been handed over to Hope House to do the necessary disbursement to the polytechnic student in need.

Since this has been paid to an IPC, the donors are entitled to tax rebates. Those who wanted to help even more have decided to forgo their potential tax rebates and instead allow their point of contact to claim it on their behalf so as to re-channel these rebates back to the 4S1 Class of 1978 Bursary for the next worthy case.

Perhaps your cohort may want to do a similar bursary arrangement ... you can contact us to learn more how they did it.
